We have had a fun filled Easter Holiday with lots of healthy family activities on the agenda. The Healthy Happy Holiday Play-scheme, funded by SASP was really popular. Children on benefit related free school meals took part in creative healthy cooking activities and fun physical activity sessions together.
In addition, we ran four family learning courses funded by Somerset Skills and Learning. These sessions were open for all families living Somerset who wanted to learn more about healthy eating. Some of them went on to sign up for a longer course too - 6 weeks to better health using food as medicine.
The highlight of the holiday was the joint event organised by Somerset Skills and Learning where Live Naturally, in partnership with Mind in Somerset, SASP, Bluebird Theatre company and Somerset Skills and Learning and The Canalside, offered healthy holiday activities for children from a wide range of ages. We had face-painting, balloon modelling, baking, cooking and crafts. Even the Easter Bunny turned up to give out lots of skipping ropes and encouraged families to do lots of skipping together this spring!
